Underwhelmed
I'm learning
That I'm lacking
And yet I've no yearning
Or desire
To correct my failures
Nor am I inspired
To find what it requires
To be a slightly better
Version
Of the person
I was hoping
Would be the person
I'd turn out to be.
I'm not sure if you're talking about teaching, but if you are, I think I've met a few teachers who have ths kind of disappointment and lack of concern. None, I believe, would admit it.
Reminds me of the quote attributed to George Elliot: It is never too late to be what you might have been. Hope that's true.
ReplyDeleteOh! I'd never heard that quote before. Very good. I hope its true as well!
Deleteaw...much time is required to get to that yearning to rectify oneself...
ReplyDeleteain't that the truth!
DeleteThis may be a hard road for you then...now who can you blame it on? (Hopefully you meant this to be funny)
ReplyDeleteha! it can be anything you want it to be :)

ReplyDeleteI stretched the theme a bit, i suppose. From teaching to learning. Its more of an inability to teach myself really :)
DeleteNice ring to this poem. It could be set to music, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteNice! I always wonder if any of my writing could be turned into song. Thanks for the kind words :)
DeleteThis came across kind of humorous to me. I'm sure if it's supposed but I like the "I am what I am" feeling it has to it.
ReplyDeleteglad you liked it !
